About The Dahlia Room, a small team in Milan reading every listing since 2019.

We started The Dahlia Room because reading ads stopped saying what the job pays

So we ask every team for three answers before a listing goes live, and a person reads each one. It is slower, and it is the reason people trust what they find here.

Three answers, we ask of every listing, and have since the very first one.

If a listing skips one of them, it goes back to the team that wrote it

  1. 01

    A real salary range

Not competitive, not on request. A range the team would actually offer, shown before anything else.

  2. 02

    The people you work with

Who the hire reports to, how big the team is and who they sit next to, in person or online.

  3. 03

    Every step to an offer

Each interview, exercise and call, how long it takes and when you hear back.

Since 2019, from a weekly email in Milan to a reading board across Europe.

It began with forty design jobs and one phone call to each team

  1. 2019

Matteo starts a weekly email of forty design jobs in Milan, each one with a salary he checked by phone.

  2. 2020

The email becomes a site. Listings without a salary range stop being accepted.

  3. 2022

Engineering, product and data join design. The team grows to four.

  4. 2024

The pricing goes live, built from every listing since the first one.

  5. 2026

380 teams across Europe post here, and 48,000 people read the Tuesday email.

Four people, who read every listing, from Miland from home.

Small on purpose, so the person who reads your listing is the one who replies
